From the very beginning, we had a vision for creating an Internet tool that would intentionally help with spiritual growth and disciple-making. Growthfinder is a fully customizable discipleship assessment that staff, leaders and individuals can use to plan for personal, small group and corporate spiritual growth. Take the assessment every year to track spiritual growth. Use it as a leader to plan your curriculum for the next year. Use it as a pastor to plan sermon series and ministry initiatives. A couple of years ago, we began trying out a system within Churchteams of tracking people who mention they are interested in joining a group from the initial communication of interest through multiple referrals and contacts until they have either joined a group or are no longer interested. The key to success is recruiting hosts for up to 50 people who’ve expressed this interest and using Churchteams to track all referrals and contacts with people in that journey to belong. Here are a couple of videos that show you how to setup the system and then train people to use it.

Several of you have asked if we had a video training for leaders. Well, here it is. Use it any way you want. Watch it so you can use it as a model when you train. Use the video in your training. Or just send it as a link to leaders who weren’t at the training. It is about 8 minutes long in content and a little longer with buffering. If you are a leader using it to create your group, pull up 2 windows side by side. Play this video in one window pausing it as necessary and create your group in the other window. Be sure leaders have access to the login page on your website and the leader password. They can also use the member login button on www.churchteams.com and enter their leader password there.

Fairly regularly someone asks how to send email to leaders, group members, the whole church or something in between. So I decided to do a 2 minute video on sending email. Short version is that you have two options: use our email or use your email manager (Outlook, etc.). If you want to do an attachment, you’ll have to use yours. This is an extremely powerful reporting tool and does more than just emails.

We started helping you collect information in 2005. In 2008 we’re delivering the results to your inbox every month. First of all in the form of a PREVIEW and then as a spreadsheet attachment. It will have all the information you need to track the trends in your small groups. Now you can know which groups most need attention and which ones are doing well. You will love it! For a couple of years, we’ve had a place for coaches to track their contacts with leaders. In June, we added a coaching reminder email feature that sends email reminders to coaches about contacting their leaders up to 4 times per month (see email reminders blog post and video). Almost everyone wants to know about the privacy and security of putting church information out on the Internet. We are very concerned about that as well and want to make sure we have the right balance between security and accessibility. There are a number of options built into the tool, but this short 3 minute video considers that question at a fairly high level rather down to details.

My son has a Mac, so I tried out the videos and all I got was jibberish. With a little research I found this free flip4mac player download that works perfectly. Just download it and it converts the format (media files) to use with Quicktime. You might find it helpful for other videos in the future as well.
